Baseball fans have plenty of excitement to look forward to this week. The season kicked off with the Dodgers Opening Series at the Dodger Stadium this past Monday and the Angels play against the Royals tomorrow at the Angel Stadium. In addition, the San Diego Padres take on the Giants at Petco Park today. And if there’s one thing that’s just as exciting as cheering on our favorite teams, it’s the food. Nothing quite feels like spring and summer than watching a baseball game while enjoying delicious stadium food. From fully-loaded hot dogs to nachos served out of a helmet, this year brings you many new, exciting dining options at our favorite baseball stadiums.

While we can appreciate indulging in calorie-rich favorites like burgers, hotdogs, ice cream and soda as much as the next baseball fan, our stomachs will thank us when we swap out them out for healthier choices. With the demand for healthy and vegetarian options growing, baseball stadiums offer more light, nutritious choices than ever before.

Baseball fans, meet some of your fruit and vegetable snack options. For those who like to munch on something cool and refreshing during a game, fruit cups with a flavorful Taijin seasoning are available. Generous slices of pineapple, watermelon, honeydew are extra delicious when paired with the tangy chile-lime seasoning of Taijin. Since you’ll be outdoors throughout most of the game, snacking on fruit will keep you hydrated against the summer heat. Plus, they’re low on calories and can satisfy your sweet tooth without all that extra sugar.

Veg-out Cups are perfect for those who just want to, pardon our pun, veg out during a game and relax with a satisfying snack. The Veg-out Cups come with carrots, celery, jicama and radish and swaps calorie-laden ranch for hummus. Hummus is rich in protein and fiber and makes a wonderfully savory dip. In contrast to greasy carbs which can turn you sluggish, vegetables make wonderful refreshments and will keep you alert and energized all game long.

As you can see, healthy options are quite popular at the Dodger Stadium’s Club Marketplace. In fact, they have a tendency to disappear as quickly as fans can grab them. Here at the Club Marketplace is where you can find a variety of sandwiches, salads, sushi boxes, and pre-washed, in-season fruit and vegetables. The sandwiches and salads offered both have vegetarian and non-vegetarian options to satisfy everyone. Also, who needs soda when you’ve got coconut water for that extra boost of hydration?

If you have access to the Dodger’s Dugout Club, then you’re in for a real treat. The Dugout Club is an all-inclusive experience with complimentary dining options from Levy Restaurants. Here you’ll find self-service buffet options such as carved meats, sausages, sliders, snacks and all of the healthy premium salads you could eat. From Artichoke and Quinoa Salad to Brussels Sprouts salad, the possibilities are endless and are made with only the freshest seasonal produce.

If you’re looking for quick and easy snacks to munch on during the game, many ballparks now offer a variety of items you can eat when you’re on-the-go. Melissa’s Farm Stand is the place to be at the Anaheim Angel Stadium if you’re craving fruit bowls, pre-washed fruit, and salads. Sweet, salty and crunchy, our Clean Snax are a new addition and make a great natural alternative to popcorn and Cracker Jacks. Just a handful is all you need to enjoy this tasty combination of wholesome ingredients such as chia and flaxseed.

One of the most popular superfood trends over the past couple of years are acai bowls and Angel Stadium is now hopping on board. Praised for its health benefits, acai berries boast a wonderful tropical fruit flavor and is packed with antioxidants and amino acids. Topped with granola, strawberries and bananas, an acai bowl is like a thick, creamy smoothie you eat with a spoon. One acai bowl is enough to keep you fueled up all throughout the game!

Sports stadiums are hard at work in offering more fresh and wholesome choices for health-conscious fans. Over the next year, you may come across more concession stands that carry organic and vegetarian eats. If you’re interested in eating deliciously and healthily during baseball season this year, keep an eye out for healthy options.
