From picking us up after school to taking us to the movies to offering a shoulder to cry on when we’re down, dad has done so much for us over the years. Many of those tasks may seem like part of what a dad is supposed to do, but we can’t help but hold on to those precious moments where our dad is not just a parent, but also a lifelong friend. These memories are truly something to celebrate, so when it’s time for Father’s Day, we love to go all out with his favorite dishes. You know what they say–the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. We don’t doubt that for one second and this year, we’re all about winning dad’s heart at the dinner table. After all, the best gift you can give dad for Father’s Day is a full stomach and happy memories.
Of course, every dad is different. Some dads love a great steak on the grill while others may prefer seafood. We’ve put together a fun menu guide for all the dads in your life.
For the Dad who Love to Grill
Fresh rosemary melds beautifully with fragrant chile peppers and pequin chile to create a savory seasoning for deliciously tender lamb chops. Roasted green and yellow chiles bring bring the flavors of the Southwest to this recipe.
Where there’s BBQ, there’s ribs. Give these grilled rack of pork ribs a twist by infusing a secret ingredient into the BBQ sauce–cactus pear. If dad asks, just tell him, “It’s all in the sauce!”
A classic favorite that always finds itself on the menu at outdoor festivites–grilled corn. For dads who like it spicy, this recipe makes the perfect side dish. Be forewarned though. These are sure to disappear quickly among your guests.
For the Dad who Enjoys Beer
Treat dad to some comfort food with this recipe. We slow cook a pork roast and simmer it with chiles until it’s fork tender. Serve it however way dad likes it–tacos, tostadas, etc. The richness of the slow-cooked pork stands up well with Indian Pale Ales (IPAs).
Pizza and beer go hand in hand. There’s nothing quite like kicking back with a cold beer and a slice of pizza after a long day. Give dad a break on Father’s Day with mini grilled vegetable pizzas. Top it all off with your dad’s favorite beer–any kind will taste great with pizza.
We’re sure dad will love a great burger but how about swapping the typical beef patty for some turkey this Father’s Day? This island-inspired turkey burger is grilled with teriyaki marinade and stacked high with grilled South African Baby Pineapples. Serve with an amber ale to go with the sweet and smokey grilled flavors.
Father’s Day is the perfect excuse to break out the fried stuff. If dad hasn’t gotten a taste of our Baby Dutch Yellow Potatoes yet, he’s missing out. Creamy with a subtle buttery flavor, these potatoes are taken to the next level with our twice fried recipe. Fried, salty dishes pair well with Stella Artois.
For the Dad who Loves Seafood
Here’s a fun way to treat dad to something fancy for Father’s Day. This updated version of a Nicoise salad features lobster and roasted Dutch Yellow Potatoes. If dad has never had this kind of salad before, now’s the time to introduce him.
For a fantastic way to serve shrimp, take advantage of this recipe’s vibrant colors and flavors. We sauté the shrimp in a delicious garlic butter, which is infused with chiles, and lay them on a bed of salsa casera rice.
We talked a little about swordfish last week on our blog. If swordfish is your dad’s choice of catch, then try grilling this recipe for Father’s Day. The firm, meaty swordfish contrasts beautifully with the light and cool flavors of the cucumber and key limes.
For the Dad who wants to be Healthy
For a festive Father’s Day party, served up this grilled salsa salad. This salad is all about the fresh flavors of summer. Grilling avocadoes, tomatoes and mangoes give these salsa components a sweet and caramelized flavor, taking salsa to a new level.
Pizza doesn’t have to be greasy or oily. This light and healthy white pizza is reminiscent of a gourmet pizza parlor. Our recipe uses delicious acorn squash, roasted garlic and fire roasted sweet red peppers to create a truly medley of flavors.
Dads who want to keep things healthy on Father’s Day will find this a truly decadent dish. The richness of saffron adds a lovely contrasting backdrop to the crème fraîche, making the black cod the star of the show.
